During the opening of Metallica’s European WorldWired Tour in Copenhagen, Metallica kicks in with a never seen and surprising act using drones in their stage show.
Shortly after the band hits in their new single ‘Moth into flame’ a dozen of drones pop out of the stage forming a large rotating circle above the band. As the song continuous more and more drones join the formation and start to swarm into more complex patterns. A total of 100 drones were needed to realize this spectacular act.
It’s the first time autonomous drones are used in a live indoor event setting. Flying so close around performers and concert viewers in a closed environment is challenging but possible with the right support.
